After my fourth or fifth visit to this *relatively* new restaurant in the San Luis downtown, I have to put in a plug for anybody who's going to be in the SLO area soon.
B.wich'd, located where 7 Hands on Higuera used to be, has my perfect three -- good ambience, reasonable prices and a decent wine list with local wines on it. And the service is even good!
To put it in perspective, my husband and I had dinner with wine and walked out feeling full for $35 before tip. They're probably best for lunch, but it was also perfect for a light dinner.
I'm working my way through the menu, but so far favorites have been the tarragon chicken salad, the saffron couscous and the sirloin burger. I really love the sweet potato string-chips as a side, with the churros dipped in melted chocolate to finish.
You can get tastes of wine, and the other night our server brought us something to taste that wasn't on the by-the-glass menu, just because they had it open.
A great place for large groups -- they have a couple of big long tables that my office has used a couple times.
