i was quite excited at the prospect of the river rock casino opening a buffet. Thoughts of a vegas style buffet whirled through my head!
well here is what i think:
overall not bad.
lunch is the best value at 14.95
dinner mon-thurs is 17.95
fri, sat ,sun is 24.95
sunday brunch is 24.95
all meal periods offer seafood of some type.
Sunday brunch was a little disappointing. eggs benedict were below standard.
i would rate this buffet experience as a 5.5 out of 10 with ten being on the same scale as the bellagio or mandalay bay in las vegas.
the menu changes every day. crab is dungeness crab, but have to struggle to get decent meat from the crabs.
fri nights have hot and cold seafoods. clams, oysters, mussels.
sunday brunch has no cheese tray! that should be standard at any sunday brunch!
everything is ok. just ok. that wow factor is missing.
food quality is average, in fact the buffet brunch that was previously offered at the fairmont hotel vancouver airport had much better quality. alas the brunch is no longer offered there.
the river rock casino has an opportunity here to really make a big splash on the buffet scene in the vancouver bc area. there really is not any outstanding buffet experience that i know of in the vancouver area.
can anyone recommend a great buffet around vancouver?
i dont mind paying more for great quality food and selection.
the empress hotel in victoria bc, did have a decent brunch a couple of months ago. i recommend that one if you are in the area on vancouver island.
