after recieving the joyous news that my cholesterol level is not as bad as i feared, i immediately stopped by the pioneer chicken on sunset for the bucket of fried gizzards that i'd heard mentioned on here before.
i'm glad to say that i was slightly disappointed. not at the fact that that the 'bucket' is slightly misleading advertising - it's really just one of those little paper boats, but filled to the brim with more than enough saturated fats than one could humanly handle.
it just wasn't quite what i was expecting. the gizzard was soft, but i thought it would be a bit crunchier and saltier. admittedly it was quite a shock to taste that greasy pioneer breading again after some two decades (what a blast from the past), but i'm glad that this is one temptation/health hazard i can resist without much effort.
the significant other, however loved it. but i'm not going to let her eat it too much (for health and um, completely superficial reasons).
might drop in again for a chicken meal one of these days though, just for nostalgia's sake.
side note: i ate it later at home with some kfc hot wings hot sauce. which was the best thing about it. does pioneer make/distribute their own hot sauce too? giddy with grease, i forgot to ask for some when he handed me my order...
