Brunch at Netty's

Just had brunch at Netty's, and was really pleased. The menu is short, but the choices are good, so what to order was a pleasant dilemma. There are maybe six or seven choices, served with home fries or fruit salad.

The only sweet thing is ricotta pancakes with lemon creme fraiche, maple syrup and blueberries - my boyfriend got this and it was really nice, the pancakes light and tangy. They're on the small side, although you get four or five - it's a "just-right" portion rather than Hungry-Man style. At $6.75 it's the cheapest thing on the menu.

I had the open-face BLTA, a pile of arugula, crispy applewood bacon, avocado and tomatoes on a corn-chive waffle with basil aioli. I liked it - delivering the salty satisfaction that you (or at least I) want from brunch food, but livened up with the salady topping. I believe this was $11.75.

Other tempting items: two poached eggs over asparagus with cream sauce... actually, the description was more tempting but I forget. The guy next to me was having it and said he really enjoyed it. I took home a menu so I'll try to add more details later.

I always get the espresso soda with a side of cream here. Cafe creme with bubbles... never fails to delight me.
