Half Bread recipe, half yeast?

blackpippi | Feb 22, 2013 06:09 AM

I am going to attempt to make Cook's Illustrated whole wheat bread recipe in my bread machine. The problem is it makes two 9x5 loaves and that's too big for the machine.

The original recipe uses 6 cups of flour as a base. I'm going to half that along with all the other ingredients. I'm guessing this will make a 1.5 lb loaf.

But, the recipe calls for 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast. Do I half that as well? Yeast confuses me.

(I've made the full recipe by hand many times so don't hate on me for using the machine.)
