A friend and I had dinner for the first time at Brasserie les Voyous this past Friday. The owner mentioned they had been open for 3 weeks. We were really happy with the space, service, and quality of food. For dinner we had:
1 steak frite (2 different cuts of steak were offered - I can't remember which one I had)
1 halibut with sweet sauce and caramelized green apples
1 glass Barolo
2 poire William desserts (pear poached in rum, spices, and served with ganache)
Total before tip: $108
The food was delicious. I can't tell you how the halibut was as my friend ate all of it before I got a taste. The steak was served on top of the fries in a shallow bowl, so the fries soaked up the juices. I was offered condiments with the steak and choose mustard. The pears were perfectly cooked. One of the reasons I choose this dessert is that if it is not done correctly, you can't hide it. Either the pears are ripe and cooked through, or they're not.
The space is beautiful - its located in Janes' Square on Hollywood Blvd and Wilcox. Outside and inside tables are available and we sat outside. The staff and owner, Viviane, are lovely and really made an effort to ensure a good meal. Like JC (previous reviewer) I like having a local place, open late, that serves good food and good wine.
I also appreciated the fact that I was told to let my glass of Barolo (sorry - I can't remember the winery) sit for a few minutes before drinking. It seems like a small thing, but not all restaurants will do this (outside of the higher priced places).
