I've been reading some articles of late about how a number of restaurants in New York, L.A., and other cities are including a mandatory 20% tip in the restaurant bill, even if it is just for 1 or 2 people.
Are Boston restaurants starting to do this, too? I haven't seen it yet, but I don't get to many of the really upscale restaurants and "power lunch" places these days.
What does everyone think of this trend? I'm not crazy about the idea, although if restaurants are willing to delete it from the bill if service is bad, I guess I'm ok with it.
