When we travelled in Turkey, enjoying zetanyale every night, the most memorable taste was of the Borek up the Bosporus, at the shop Sariyar. The snaking, stuffed pastry is one ofr the ages.
It NYC Borek always sees to be a deepfried wad, nothing like the Isanbul orignal.
Who has a tipo on real Borek here????
In return,..my first posting to this website (that has blown my min) I offer a special secret treat:
In Red Hook, go to Difanti's for the sandwiches. It has been there forever, you stand at the counter and eat a bit of heaven.
The tossup is ........the roast beef, or the potato and egg? Let me know, and thank co-foodie Chad who took me there many years ago.
Right outside the Tunnel.
