My wife and I were hanging around yesterday trying to figure out what to do for lunch, when I suggested a nice, juicy hamburger. That got the ball rolling, but we were having a hard time deciding where to go ... we've done FO, Counter, etc etc etc, and the places we have yet to try were a bit too far for us (it was already 1:30, and we had early'ish dinner reservations at Brunellos with friends).
A bit miffed, we sat in silence, 'til a bolt of lightning struck and I relayed my epiphany ... let's hit Boneyard!
Even though we disagree on some things, fellow Valley-Hound Diana and I are both of one mind on Boneyard -- it is awesome deliciousness. I've always been happy with my meals there, and had been wanting to try their raved about burgers.
Doh! How could I have let such a wonderful place (and but a stone's throw from my house) slip my mind?
So, off we walked to BB, intent on getting said burger.
Within minutes of walking out our front door, we were comfortably seated on the patio, enjoying the nice change in weather. Our server brought out the menus, and we quickly focused on the burgers ... what to get, what to get?
And then, recalling more than a few raves on CH about it, our decision was made. We decided to share, and ordered the Patty Melt cooked medium, and soon were presented with a MASSIVE, mouth-watering, eye-pleasing delight of a sandwich.
On my first bite, I knew ... THIS is what a patty melt should be. A bit of grease, perfectly cooked meat, crispy grilled Rye, deliciously melted cheddar and gruyere accompanied by the sweet pepperiness of grilled onions with a bit of heat from the chilies and crunch from bacon bits (fresh, not that bottle rot).
Within 15 minutes we'd BOTH devoured our respective halves; and while I both enjoyed and appreciated all three of Aaron's dipping sauces, this is a sandwich that needs NOTHING else. Not that I'm complaining about their tasty fries and coleslaw that accompany it, mind you.
Washed down with a very mild and refreshing Belgian Pilsner (Bavik), this was a soul-satisfying lunch.
Topped off by a few of Nata's tasty treats on the way home, and THIS is a meal I'd recommend to ANYONE!
