Bonello's New York Pizza

I have been to this place many times. Since I am now an official Chowhound and I went to Bonello's today, I thought I would give a review. I ordered a large mushroom pizza which cost $14.85 (I had to request a receipt and gladly received a handwritten one). I will have to go back to my car, measure how big that was, and add to the thread later. (In my last pizza review about Casa Bianca, I forgot to mention how big the large was . . .) They used fresh mushrooms. (Why is this an issue? It came up in some other pizza discussion.) The pizza tasted good. No complaints about the pizza . . .

The place has many parking spots. It's across the street from El Camino College. They sell by the slice and have meal deals which include salad (the standard lettuce kind) and soda. The place is basically a pizza shack, with no restroom, outdoor patio eating area . . . They mostly serve college kids and people fortunate enough to try the place out. The cheese is good, the sauce is good, the crust is good . . . The proprietor offered me parmesan, peppers, utensils, plates, etceteras . . .

This is a good neighborhood pizzeria worth stopping by, way better than chain places. It's not really NY pizza, but it's in the range, and it's good pizza. It's a family run establishment.

Oh yeah, it's details:

16006 Crenshaw Blvd
Gardena, CA 90249

Off the 110 freeway going West on Redondo Beach Boulevard, make a right on Crenshaw and it's on your right hand side . . . I understand that there are other Bonello's New York Pizza . . . when I was a little kid I might have had some from one of them in Lomita but do not remember the quality. There is one in Torrance also. I have not been there. I got some garlic bread previously and remember enjoying it, but do not think it's fair to critique it because it's been some time since I had it.
