Bombay Grill

I know next to nothing about Indian food. I was coming out of TJ's at Santa Monica & Fuller today and I smelled this great smokey aroma. I started searchin. Practically next door is this little hole in the wall place called Bombay Grill which is a misnomer since the proprietors aren't from Bombay and the grill is really a tandoori oven. Zero atmosphere. Probably most folks get take out. But if you do eat there, there seems to be a tendency to give you extra stuff and to round the check down to the last whole dollar. Regardless, they let me, nay encouraged me, to look in the tandoori oven where I saw my chicken cooking on a spear and my naan slapped against the oven's wall. You have to wait a bit because everything's cooked on the spot. Well, maybe not the vegetable koorma (veggies in a tasty cashew gravy). A big glass of mango lassi hit the spot too.
The chicken tastes as good as it smells, maybe better. I like it. Open 7 days. 7306 1/4 Santa Monica Blvd.
