Blue Smoke.... um whats the big deal?

Went to Blue smoke last night around 9:30. No reservations, so they told us the wait would be 45 minutes. There was space at the bar so, no problem. After our 45 minutes, we wer briskly taken to the upstairs dining room, over looking the rest of the restaurant. This room was completely empty.... There had to be at least 20 tables up there with no one sitting at any of them. So why did they make us wait 45 minutes? I guess they were just trying to make some extra cash from the bar.

Anyhow the 4 of us sat down. We had never been there before, so we wanted to sample a little of everything. Each of us ordered a 1/2 rack, of the 4 different kinds of ribs (2)pork and (2)beef, and a couple of sides: spicy cheese fries, mac and cheese and cornbread. The ribs come out. They all looked really good, and I was expecting really great things (based upon what ive read on these boards). I must say the KC style ribs were ok, but almost all of the others came out super dry. The Texas salt and pepper beef ribs were basically like jerky.

After all the chat about how great this freaking place is, im feeling very disappointed about my experience. Based upon the price of the food and all the talk, i was expecting much more. Whats up with that? Also whats up with those wierd air conditioner boxes on either side of the entry? Are those there all the time? Tre chic...
