Blue Smoke

So, I went to Blue Smoke the other night, having read some good things about it. I was a fan of Stick to YOur Ribs back in the day, before it fell off, and will probably have to go to Texas over Thanksgiving to adequately stuff myself.

Blue Smoke was so-so. We had ribs and pulled pork. I should say that I thought the appetizers and sides were excellent, but a barbecue place cannot stand, nay, even squat on its appetizers. One complaint I've heard about upscale barbecue places is that the meat they use is actually too good, and that was the case here. It was not cooked long enough, and didn't have that fatty juiciness that comes from real barbecue. Also, everything was oversauced. Too much like a real restaurant. If I want good meat, I'll go to Lugar's. If I want barbecue, I'm going south.
