Hey all you Mont Co (Philly) diners... the Blue Bell Diner is now open for business - again. My husband saw the signs last night, so we ran down there this morning to see. It was good! They have not made a lot of changes to the interior, although it does seem brighter inside. They are open 6am-10pm 7 days a week including holidays. Apparently the new owners own another restaurant(s) in the area, so they know what they are doing. Our omlets were very good, ingredients seemed fresh, the home fries were very good. The portions are generous and breakfast for 2 was under $24. Which is less than we spent last time at Rays (and it tasted better too). The service was good, and quick. The restaurant was not crazy busy, but a good turnout for a first day. We got a table right away at 11am.
The menu was quite extensive. I didn't study it, because I was pretty hungry, but I noticed gyros, parm sandwiches, and full entrees. The soups today were Lobster Bisque and Italian Wedding. I forget the dinner special. The milkshakes we saw at other tables looked awesome, and all around we heard happy diner noises, no complaints from any table near us. Oh, and you can get carry out. They have a take home menu at the front register.
Hopefully they will continue this trend, this was our favorite diner when it was good, several years ago!
