Biryani Paradise, Mountain View

Biryani Paradise has taken over the spot in the Good Guys shopping center in Mountain View (on El Camino between 85 and Bernardo) formerly occupied by mediocre Nepalese and Afghan restaurants. They have broken the curse on boring food at this location. The namesake biryanis looked fabulous, but too large for my lunchtime meal. So I tried a Mumbai-style tomato paneer curry dish with naan, and it was wonderful - it's a different dish and spicing combination than any I have had before.

It's a self-service restaurant, but retains the nicer setting of the two full-service restaurants that preceded it. The menu features a page of biryani dishes and a page of curry dishes in the $5 - $10 range.

I plan to be back soon to try out more of the menu, including some of those biryanis. If the food quality is consistently good this place is going to be a winner. It already seems to be doing more business than its immediate predecessor though it has not been open long. They're open for lunch and dinner every day but Monday.

Anyone else been there yet?

Michael
