Big Island mini report

Spent a week near Kona and followed some recent and very detailed recommendations.
Big Jakes was overrated. I had the pulled pork and it was so salty that I could not finish it. I found the chicken to be better, but there are plenty of superior BBQ places in the bay area. They are open until 6.
Across the street from Big Jakes was a wonderful little bakery and coffee shop.
We had a splurge at Richard Theibault (or close in spelling) in Weimea. Nice, well prepared but unremarkable food. I had the lamb and tuna, my daughter did not like the rissoto. My wife had spicy rolls in a nice hot sauce. The coffee cheesecake was to die for, however.
We did try a light lunch at Merriman's in the strip mall at Waikaloa, pretty good but only had fries and ono on pita.
