I love a fine Spanish restaurant. My wife gets really foxed up and I get dressed up too. A special romantic evening at a favorite restaurant, Meson Galicia in Norwalk is in the offing..
We get there for an 8:30 reservation. The place was full but not jammed. The service was curt and distracted. The food was an absolute rip-off.
I am OK when leaving a restaurant after a lousy meal. I'll just forget about it because my next meal is just a few hours away. But I detest leaving a restaurant feeling cheated and taken advantage of.
I ordered Seafood with Rice as an entree (for $23). Came advertised with mussels, shrimp, scallops, grilled squid, and fish.
The dish arrived and was a tiny portion (smaller than tapas) and contained two "Red Lobster" sized shrimp, small bits of fish, two scallop halves, NO mussels, and NO grilled squid. Huh?
The waiter cooly related that this is how the dish is prepared and presented.
I used to like this place..was it an off night or has a once wonderful restaurant hit bottom? Anyone have a similar experience?
