Big Bday dinner for Mom--she loves ethnic and fun places she can't find in the 'burbs

Hi there. There are 6-8 of us for my mom's birthday dinner. She loves ethnic food--Indian, Vietnamese, Thai--but most of the places I go to are too divey or too expensive for the occasion. If you remember OG in the EV, that's along the lines I'm thinking. Good, fun, and I'd say no more than 40-45/head with a drink. I prefer to stay downtown--West or EV, Gramercy/Flatiron etc...Further down is also fine but I'm thinking there are likely the best options in EV.

She also likes yummy comfort food and I am thinking about Northern Spy Co or 6th Street Kitchen. Thoughts? Not sure if Northern takes rezzies but I can call in the AM. If there are others (not Perilla, which we won't get into) you can rec like these, I'm open.

Thanks a mill...
