B&G

I had a great meal with the hubby EARLY on Monday evening at B&G. We were done by 7:15 and were the only ones in there. 2 dozen oysters. dozen each of damariscotta and beach point. They were fresh and cold and briny and plump. I had the wedge salad with great bacon and weird tomato confit and DH had the chowda. Which was just the way he liked it, not thick and gluey. I had the lobster roll. The brioche was delicious as were the fries, cole slaw and pickles. I did think the fries and the lobster salad could have used a bit more seasoning, though. All in all it was a nice shot in the arm of summer on a bitter cold night. DH had the cod wrapped in bacon on braised leeks. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the leeks were fabulous. Next time, I'm getting that if it's still on the menu. Washed down with prosecco and mineral water. grand total of 194 with tax and tip. I could have gone to any number of places for spending that amount, I suppose, and for some reason that does give me pause. But the meal was delicious and civilized and satisfying.

Ice cream and hot cocoa at Picco down the block. I like the hot chocolate. the vanilla almond praline was cloyingly sweet.
