Thank you, chowhounds, for your recommendations. Just wanted to get back to you with updates...

Becco for our party of 5 was a good choice food wise, however, never again will we eat in the front room... so noisy that we couldn't carry on a conversation, and the wait staff was carting huge 6 and 8 foot plywood boards by our table all night...my daughter thought they were pizza boards...I said no they appear to be table tops... But the food's the thing right...

Pasta Special- spaghetti with tomato and basil, 4 cheese rigatoni, lobster ravioli.... all good.

Veal Chop-Exquisite, huge, totally delicious, excellent sauteed escarole side... (in my opinion, the best of our entrees)

Rack of lamb...juicy, huge, nicely seasoned (I still prefer French though)

Porcini Steak... flavorful enough but not wowwwwweee...

Veal Parmigiana... topped with tomatoes in lieu of sauce... pet peeve of mine...tomatoes are clearly out of season...if you can't get great ones...use canned... Becco used insipid fresh ones...

Waiter selected a decent bottle of red wine after I told him our preferences...

Dessert Sampler...pannacotta was the winner, smooth and creamy, couldnt tell what flavor gelato we had, asked waiter, he said he didnt know and never told us....

Would return again (back room only) but have a lot more restaurants to explore...

La Maison du Chocolat.... 2 cups of lukewarm hot chocolate, one slice of ganache tart-great flaky pastry, ganache surprisingly bland), one bouchette... $26.00 ... the "hot" chocolate tasted exactly like my homemade chocolate pudding before it sets up.... well now I know how to make chocolat chaud like the french!

We had FUN! Experiences like these make New York the intriguing place it is...

Perfection---Urinetown The Musical... Don't miss it!

Thanks again, hounds!
