Bayonne, NJ. . .home of culinary delight

Don't laugh! No, it does NOT smell in Bayonne! If you're in the area, and want to have some fabulous pizza, Pompei's on Broadway and 22nd is THE place to go. . .my friends from other cities are more than willing to take the trip (careful, they're closed on Sundays). If you don't want to schlep over to the city, it's THE best pizza around. Around the corner, on East 22nd, is Chez Marie, the perfect coffee shop to stay all day with a friend and hide from the rest of the world. The Chandelier, on 54th and B'way (just off the Turnpike, exit 14A) has superb Sunday brunch (but the attached diner lies. . .they do NOT have the world's best pancakes. . .in fact, they stink). Best diner: Bayonne Diner on 8th St and B'way, open 24-hours, with the best fries w/mozzarella and gravy (if you're disgusted, you're not from NJ). Great Greek dishes as well. . .love their tzaziki sauce (wouldn't be a good diner if they weren't Greek). Loads more. . .Mediterraneo for Spanish, and La Traviata (both on B'way around 44th St. or so) has FABULOUS Italian. I could go on forever! Discover gastronomical glory in Bayonne! :-)
