Interesting article in the SF Chronicle (see link below) regarding unlicensed restarants. There are unadvertised, unlicensed, underground restaurants where you can get a great meal for a bargain, with a "maybe we'll get busted" ambience that I'm sure adds to the appeal.
In some cases, the dinners are prepared by chefs from very well known restaurants, such as Chez Pannise and Rivoli, as mentioned in the article.
Anyone wish to share their experiences at such "underground" restaurants in the Bay Area? And how connected do you really need to be in order to get on the guest list?
