OMG! This place is amazing. Thanks to Mike (Betty's husband) for a great first trip. I decided to make a stop there on my way home yesterday and was greeted by a thankfully short line and some of the best service and attitude i've seen anywhere.
Mike's the first person I met, and he immediately noticed my bedazzled and inquiring face and asked what I'd like. And so mentioning that it was my first time and didn't know quite yet what I wanted, he immediately offered my a free ginger cookie. One of the best if not the best I've had in a long while. chewy, not too gingery and I think it had a bit of a zing to it.
Mike proceeded to say I should try a couple things and asked if I had family and just as quickly started to fill up a bag full of stuff, including a whole chicken pot pie, strawberry shortcake, apricot pie slice and by that time I realized he meant to give me all that as a freebie. Ecstatic beyond belief and by that time with my mouth hanging open all the while stuff my face with the cookie, I somehow managed to squeak out thank you thank you that's enough and stopped him before sending on my way because I really wanted to buy something from him for all his generosity.
I simply couldn't resist the cookies so I bought half a dozen Oatmeal Raisins, a couple Gingers and the first tempting looking ginger pear scone I saw when I first entered. We chatted a bit, inquired about the fried chicken sandwich (which i sadly found out and later remembered that I already had heard was only served for lunch) and before finally sending me on my way with two bags full of goodies he asked me where I worked and with how many co-workers and said he'd be happy to drop off lunch sometime, just call his business card.
Needless to say, I left with quite an impression along with a mouth full of cookie and I started into the strawberry shortcake before I left the parking lot across the street. Seriously, outstanding service is the best marketing tool. Easily a customer for life on my very first bite.
