I can't believe this has happened to me! Two low-quality meals in the North End....1) Ricardo's. This is not my fault, a co worker chose this restaurant. However, the salad was made of iceberg with bottled italian dressing (and that's your only choice); the bread was flat tasting and poor consistency. Dinner was supposed to be mushroom-pesto stuffed ravioli, but it was just some plain mushrooms cooked and shoved into plain pasta circles. No cheese, no pesto. Also about 6 small ravioli's.
2) Massamino, on Endicott street. Chose this last minute without time to research. Zagat gave it a 22...it deserves a 16 at best. Small place, entirely made of tile, so that everything echoes. The glare of fluoresent lights comes out of the kitchen which the waitress is contstantly yelling into from the dining room. The waitress also RUSHED us constantly. We ordered an appetizer which was literally served in two minutes. THe app itself was tasty, crispy crab cake which tasted fresh and had red pepper sauce over it. However the entrees were not passable! Gnocci with "cream tomato sauce" was mooshy with plain red sauce and a pile of mozz. cheese under it. Blah. And chicken saltimbocca had strange tasting ham (like sunday dinner ham) and overcooked escarole in it. THe sauce tasted like it had maple syrup in it. Mushrooms slimy.
This is long, but it's a warning to anyone who wants to try these places! Such a waste of money and tastebuds :(
