My first mistake was to change my mind about dinner at my favorite Korean place and instead try the new place next door. SaiSai on 4345 Telegraph looks very cute and was packed.
Service was very friendly...but the food!
Tempura was made in thick, oily batter (Aunt Jemima's?). The Teriyaki Salmon and chicken in bad store bought sauce. Everything dry and overcooked. Tonkatsu Pork was like a bad wienerschnitzel. The side salad with Kraft dressing. Salty Miso soup, no bonito taste or seaweed...just salt. Pickles were old and dry. The sushi rolls were not quite as good as Safeway....
Sorry! I have to find something positive to say. The tea was very good (but a bit too hot for green tea!)
Maybe in time the restaurant will try to cook better food...until then there is next door!(Try the black sesame paste hot pot...it is a dream).
