We just ate at Simon Pearce last night and I have to say it was one of the worst "fine" dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered the Crispy Duckling on the recommendation of the waitress. She emphasized how the duck is roasted for 2 hours and all the fat is rendered out. That description couldn't have been further from the truth. The main entrees took a while to arrive. The duck was a soggy, fatty mess and the rice underneath was swimming in sauce. It was almost like it was soup. After sending the duck back, the waitress brought a complimentary bowl of mushroom bisque. Then she asked me to select something else from the menu. I chose the "club cut" sirloin medium rare. Since my wife was already done her meal, I think they felt compelled to rush it. Big mistake. I received the steak about 15 mins later and it was more rare than medium. After taking a bite, the center was not even warm. Needless to say, this went back too. I was done with the experience. We had to crack up when the hostess/manager asked us if we wanted desserts. Of course we said "No thanks.". They ended up comping us for the whole meal. I can only hope the "real" chef was off that night even though it was a Saturday.
