Had brunch in both places the past two days. Both were good.
Bacchus is a French Bistro (in BK, no way) on Atl. Ave. It is nicely laid out with an outside patio. Nice and prompt service. Had some very good spinach and goat cheese crepes with a nice mesulin salad. Then had some excellent Creme Brulee with Fresh Strawberries. Had some nice expresso and Chimay Triple and Brooklyn Lager on tap. All told - $32. Not too bad, really.
Cafe Bar on 34th a couple blocks from Steinway. It's right next to Kaufman Studios and the Museum of Moving Image. Service was friendly, but a bit lax. It had a funky vibe and decor - couches mixed with worn,industrial looking tables, chairs and floors. Clubby music playing. The wait staff was French, perhaps, German, Greek... not really sure. I had the Mediterranean breakfast and some wonderful orange juice - fresh blood orange, I believe. The eggs were scrambled mixed with excellent home fries, tomatoes, celery, scallions, and Greek olives. Had an option to replace scallions and olives wit onions and something else (forgot). Bill was $18 plus tax, as the OJs were $5 per glass. Not bad, good place.
Overall, 2 nice spots, excellent places.
