I have been planning to have my father come into the city and take me to Babbo next month for my birthday dinner. I've wanted to eat there for years, and figure this is a good opportunity.
After making reservations today, I read over the menu again. I'm a little nervous now that Babbo might be a little too extreme or "weird" for my dad. He's Italian, so I figured some of the traditional meat dishes might appeal to him, but now I'm not so sure. Are the dishes simple enough to cater to someone with somewhat boring tastes? He's not much of an adventurer when it comes to food.
As an alternative, I was thinking of maybe going to Blue Hill instead. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Blue Hill, and I figure the dishes there might appeal a bit more to my father.
Ideally, I'd still love to go to Babbo. I just wanted people's opinions as to whether or not my father might be able to find some simpler dishes at Babbo.
