AWESOME SPICY KAMPUNG CHICKEN IN A HOT POT @ FAT BIRD, LIANG SEAH SINGAPORE - CHONGQING STYLE

I was wandering along hugely popular liang seah street a couple of months ago, looking for a place to have my spicy fix. Liang seah is just so famous for chongqing hot pot/steamboat, and various other eateries, like a recent newcomer, chong qing grilled fish (which is just always so pack on the weekends). I decided i wanted a change, and chanced upon a new kid on the block (then), FAT BIRD.

Aside from its fresh, clean wholesome decor, which makes for a pleasant environment, i was taken in by the wall murals, which were such a delight to see.

Thankfully, I was with family, which meant i could try their house specialties and others. The chicken hotpot was phenomenal - 2 types of broth to choose from. We obviously went for both! and ordered sides, like mushroom, meatballs, cucumber, potato to add to the hotpot. If you didnt want the chicken meat in the hotpot, you could order pork ribs instead. I saw the next table ordering pork ribs, and like our table, the food was completely demolished. I learnt after our meal, that the people running FAT BIRD, were also the people behind Chong Qing Grilled Fish. I've been to Chong Qing Grilled Fish (at both Liang Seah and Mosque Street) a couple of times before, and the food's terrific as well. Both restaurants get busy for dinners on Fri - Sun, so best to reserve in advance or avoid weekend dining there. Weekday dinners are still do-able, if you don't feel like calling ahead.

I have been back a couple of times to Fat Bird, which speaks volume for the quality of food and level of culinary satisfaction i experience. Great find, and highly recommended. Oh - and definitely value for money. Not expensive at all.
