Authentic Sushi - Preferably Omakase in SD - Sakura? Others? What really IS the best?

I posted this inside another thread, but just to be safe, thought I would ask in a self titled post...

I'm a 'hound in LA, and I will be in downtown SD (Hyatt) next week for a couple of days and wanted to find a really authentic, true omakase sushi place in SD to eat at. I've read several comments on Sakura... is that really the best place? I don't mind driving, but downtown would be easier, but I would rather drive for better fish.

I'm looking for truly amazingly fresh fish made by a traditional & authentic sushi chef, so a "no Calif rolls" place is just fine. I'm also looking for a good omakase experience... 15-30 courses of complete chef's choice... I will eat anything.

I could probably say price is not an object, but would really prefer not to spend more than $250 or so per person... but if it is REALLY great (a la the late Ginza Sushi Ko in LA, or the current Masa in NYC), I could be persuaded...

Lastly, I will quite possibly be dining alone, so a place that doesn't mind that would be best.

Thanks in advance for all the help from the SD 'hounds and I will try my best to post a detailed review after my meal.
