Astoria Reviews - Sac's, Rizzo's, JJ's, and Viva el Mariachi

I just moved to Astoria and was initially disappointed in some of the food I was eating. Thanks to fellow chowhounds, I finally had some good food!

Sac's pizza was very good - reminded me of Joe's in the West Village in Manhattan. The sauce was a little sweet, but overall, I was pleased.

I liked Rizzo's pizza even better. I think this will be my standard pizza in Astoria (unless people have other suggestions).

JJ's - The edamame with wasabi cream sauce was OUTSTANDING, but I didn't think the sushi was anything particularly special. It was solid though...The dumplings were also better than average.

Viva el Mariachi - Now, I'm a Mexican food snob, and I thought the food was outstanding. HUGE portions. You could not possibly eat an entire entree. I had enchiladas (although I heard tacos are the thing to get) - the cheese and one with a mole sauce. My only complaints about the place were no margaritas and the guac wasn't spicy enough for my taste.

I would like to hear about any Indian/Thai places that deliver around 31st Street and 36th Ave. All suggestions welcome...and thank you Astoria hounds for pointing me in the right direction.
