I am a taco truck/taqueria guy - I go to them, bring them home, tell my wife where I stopped, and she thinks I'm nuts to be out of my car in some of these neighborhoods in LA.
There is a big yellow truck in Sun Valley - right where Glenoaks & Sunland meet (in the back parking lot of Sun Valley Produce). I stopped by there on Saturday and picked up 1 Asada burrito and 4 asada tacos.
Asked what was in the burrito and was told only beans and meat (salsa/onions/cilantro all on the side).
Ok, so it was $12!!! which is alot for taco truck chow. I am used to $3.50 burritos + $1 or so for each taco.
I loaded up on the sides but did ask them to put salsa in the burrito (somehow it tastes better to me this way).
So I get home (La Crescenta) ready to be underwhelemed for the price.
Tacos were STUFFED with heavy flavorful meat nice BBQ back taste ala La Superica in SB in the 80's (I think LSR is no good and expensive now)
This was the best asada I have had - ever!!!
I think the tortillas on the tacos were 'a mano' but not sure probably machine pressed (not hand).
So good, I drove back on Sunday only to find them not there on Sundays, I remembered they had a Branford address listed on the truck so I search Arleta to find there is no resaurant associated with them.
This is how much the MRS liked them. on Sunday evening we went to a great family style mexican restaurant in Pasadena (La Fiesta, something) that gives you an option to have an all you can eat taco bar at your table which we all had and was very good -but- Monday night, on her way home she grabbed some tacos and a Burrito from the big yellow truck because she was still craving them -crazy-huh?
Truck has a 'Sonora Grill' listed on it as the company name.
I will update you all as I have pastor/carnitas/etc.
