Malaysia Kopitiam at 19th and M is everything the Washingtonian review states and more.
We confess we are good friends of the owners, but have become so after holding our wedding in their former restaurant in Wheaton (Malaysian Satay House).
Musts to try are: Po Pia (in the same vein as a Vietnamese spring roll, but oh so much better). Curry is beyond belief and must be ordered so you can have the roti bread which is like nothing you've ever had in an Indian restaurant.
Menu is extensive and diverse and they provide pictures of the dishes so you can see what you'll be ordering. If you can't decide, check with Leslie (one of the owners) and he'll help make wise recommendations.
Fear not the unknown, things are well described and there are a few (very tasty) safety nets for the skeptics in your party, such as smoked chicken leg, smoked beef brisket, all the satays.
A great summer surprise treat is the crispy squid salad made with green apples, red onions, crispy crumbs of fried squid and a spicy dessing. A must try!
