Apple Pan Paper Cone Cups

Scooty | Apr 17, 2005 10:44 AM

Half of the pleasure of visiting Apple Pan comes from the anachronistic surroundings: the screen door in the front, the large U-shaped counter, receiving your burger with no plate, the special ketchup plate (with ketchup poured for you,) the bare walls, the waiters themselves, and the outdated burger titles: Steak Burger and Hickory Burger.

Until recently, little paper cone cups also provided some unique feel to one's Apple Pan experience. I personally have only seen paper cones once or twice at a water cooler. These cones sat in little red plastic holders, and were pretty unique.

To my horror, on my last visit to Apple Pan, I was presented not with the comforting sight of the paper cone, but the worst cup of all: thick styrofoam. These cups completely kill the mood (not to mention the ozone layer.)

Maybe paper cups have become prohibitively expensive. Or perhaps they aren't even made, for where else do you really see them these days?

Anyone else miss paper cone cups?
