Antica Pizzeria, rusty lettuce

When I chose to have lunch at Antica Pizzeria in Marina del Rey today I was in the mood to be treated well. In the past Antica’s service has been friendly. Today it was still friendly, but just so…clueless. My caesar salad arrived and it was not fresh. It was brown on all the edges. No one came by the table until I finished my sandwich, so there was no choice about sending it back. The manger said “but the sandwich, it was good, no?” I thought, yeah, it was good, but the salad was inedible. He shrugged his shoulders and said, well, it’s a Monday!” Like…I was served salad fixings still hanging around from the Sunday night dinner-crowd. Yuk.
He did not offer to adjust my bill, but did offer a dessert. I passed it up. I was in no mood for anymore leftovers. I was a woman dining alone. I wonder if they do this to everybody…or if the expense-account-crowd get treated a little better.
