Restaurants & Bars 12

Anniversary trip

Hi everybody,

I'm taking my wife for a Tues-Fri trip for our 20th anniversary. It's her first trip (my second) and I'm looking for some help finding great romantic restaurants.

Based on my reading of similar discussions recently, my short list includes:

Clancy's
Galatoire's
Rue127
August
Bayona

I was originally thinking about CP for our actual anniversary dinner as it's a place I've long wanted to try, but I get the vibe that it's considered a little formal (even passe?) compared to many of the other choices.

On my first trip 15 years ago (how time flies), the landmark meal was a private dinner at Arnaud's. It was one of the greatest meals I've ever had. Interestingly, I don't see the place mentioned much on the boards. Also, I don't want to try to relive a great experience as it is probably doomed to fall short of my expectations.

As a side note, I want to try to see a little of the countryside on one of the days. If we manage to get out, I'm thinking of visiting one or two out-of-town places, specifically Cafe Des Amis in Breaux Bridge (dinner or zydeco breakfast??) and/or Jolly Cafe in Houma.

Thanks for any insights you can offer to make this a very memorable anniversary!

Cheers,

Jon
