As an Outer Borough Explorer and a huge fan of Mina's from her Sunnyside location we finally made the trek to her new digs at Angon on Sixth. Wow...the food was exceptional, the service friendly and prompt and as for Milton he's a gem!
For those who did not have the opportunity to eat at Mina's...she serves up home style cooking that is so exceptional it will bring tears to your eyes. The food is expertly prepared, fresh, perfectly spiced with a bit of fire power (mild fairing folk may want to announce themselves when ordering) and you will not need to call a rescue squad to find your food in a bowl of sauce. Mina truely serves up the best Indian Food I've ever eaten (and folks I've eaten a lot)!!!!
Last night we had vegetable pakora for a starter with the Achar Gosht (not on the current menu- just ask for it), Palak Ponir, Tilapia Dopeaja. The vegetable pakora were nice and spicy....super yummy.
It is hard to say which of the three entrees was the most outstanding. The palak ponir was heavenly the cheese itself incredibly flavorful, and the lamb perfectly spiced and ooooh soooooo tender cooked in pickle. The tilapia was a whole fish, you have to put forth some effort to debone but the flavor is sublime!!!!
Go now and go often. You will not be disappointed. As far as the wait it was not an issue for us. Our food was served promptly, the wait staff attentive and friendly. So, all of you Manhattanites who have missed the Mina's experience...Make yourselves a reservation and go! (Yes, make a reservation...small place, nice atmosphere by the way...very peaceful).
Thanks Milton and Mina for a fabulous meal!
