An Amazing Dinner at Black Salt

To Joe and to Chef Jeff and others, whatever the nature of the collabortion, it worked. Kudos to all. I think the three minute ovation for the staff was indicative of our enthusiasm.

I can't describe the meal as a whole, but I can say that I have never experienced such an array of tastes -- complementary, contradictory, surprising, amazing, a universe in each tiny one of the 14 courses.

The full flavor of each round was wonderful, and in a few cases actually made my spine tingle. I hope that some of the people who were there will describe the courses in detail.

I understand that Joe carried the superb risotto in from Italy. What dedication!

It was a revelatory dinner for me. I was not brought up on dinners of many small courses. But these were so distinct one from the other that each one carried the impact of something with greater volume.

This was a dinner none of the 50 attendees will soon forget.
