Amanda's in Hoboken.

It's been a while, almost 8 years, since we found our way along Washington St. in Hoboken. There certainly is a lot more happening on the eatery scene than it already had.

Anyway, as we were casually driving around we decided to stop somewhere/anywhere for breakfast. Amanda's French setting in a ground floor brownstone along Washington St. looked very appealing. We were warmly welcomed and seated.

We started with the warm mushroom on mixed green with goat cheese and perfectly-coated with balsamic vinaigrette. I had one of the best egg dish I ever had - poached eggs with hollandaise, perfect for my liking with half-cooked yolk and just enough ooze when punctured, on hash browns wonderefully-mixed with generous pieces of crab meat. My wife had the Jack Benny's - again a couple of well-prepared poached eggs, but this time laid on portions of tender steaks on English muffins.

It didn't take long for us to make our way back to Amanda's. As a result of a rain check on dinner appointments in NJ, we made our way back the same evening for that "early dinner prix fixe of $25 - FOR TWO!". One of the best, if not the best, bargain around.

Looking forward to a regular dinner the next time around.
