Alternative to Dairy Joy in Weston?

This weekend 3 of us went to Dairy Joy which we knew would be pricey. It ended up being expensive and just not very good. I had a grilled cheese + tomato sandwich that was made on a George Foreman grill (we asked) and tasted like dry toast with Velveeta spread on it. The fries were cold. The scallops were kind of gritty and a coffee frappe was way too milky. The lemonade was warm.

It was $46 for fish + chips, grilled cheese + fries, small scallops + side salad and 3 small drinks. I swear the food used to be better -- I've definitely gone every summer at least once for years.

It's sad because I love the atmosphere of this place. What would folks offer as an alternative for those of us driving from the Watertown/Waltham/Arlington area?
Something like the Clam Box in Ipswich somewhere around here would be great.
