I live in New York City, but Alleia is one of the best restaurants I've tried in years. It's the complete package- superb food, service and decor. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as Chef Daniel Lindley is a Gramercy Tavern alum and James Beard Award nominee. The guy's got some street cred. I haven't seen a restaurant like it, especially in Chattanooga, and when I'm in Chatt to visit my parents I will be going there every time.
We had a large party so we got to try some amazing dishes, and here are the highlights: pancetta-wrapped dates (I am not a pancetta nor a dates gal, and I loved these things. They melted in my mouth.); wood-fired vegetables (Who knew something so simple could pack such a punch?); penne with bolognese & pecorino (My mouth is watering just thinking about it); and organic trout (A dish that is absolutely delicious and looks so beautiful on the plate, you hate to ruin the presentation with your fork!). Oh! And the pepperoni pizza was just damn good. Period.
I am so happy to see a restaurant like this in Chattanooga. It's sophisticated without being pretentious. The servers were just lovely and I am dying to have the designer give me some pointers for my apartment. Gorgeous!
