Allegria - Malibu

We had not been here in quite sometime and went last Sat. night for my Niece's birthday. I had forgotten what a nice interior space they have. Fairly romantic with nice booths.

I would call the food good, not great. But one thing they do provide is *ample* portions. I had their starter of one big portobello mushroom cap sauteed and then put on top of a tower of tomatoes which were interspersed with fresh mozzarella and drizzled with a high quality extra virgin olive oil.

This really was excellent. My main was the lamb shank with a red tomato based sauce over it and gnocchi with a white sauce. The meat was falling off the bone but the shank had been a bit overcooked and some of the interior meat was a little on the overdone side.

The gnocchi was quite nice but just a tad towards the gummy side, (but I finished it so what does that tell you).

I would recommend this place to anyone who is out near the Malibu pier and is thinking about where to eat. Service was good and they have wine and beer only.
