Al Baraka is open

Have been enjoying the neighborhood reporting from Jen Maiser and "nja". Will add my own sighting from this morning's walk and hope others will follow suit from their own environs.

The new halal market on Polk near Clay has been open less than a week. All the Croatian foodstuffs of the former proprietor are gone, replaced by turkish, arabic, and other middle eastern groceries, a fresh meat counter, bulk spice bins, frozen products, an olive bar, some fresh produce, etc. I asked the cashier about the fresh, raw sausages in the butcher's display. He said they were a North African seasoned beef sausage for grilling. I asked if he might stock merguez, and he said this was a type of merguez. Then I asked for lamb merguez, and learned that they'll have three varieties of merguez: all lamb, a beef/lamb combo, and this beef one starting the end of the week.

Anyone else check it out yet?
