Abacus Revisited

Abacus is still the real deal. Despite those who have visited and made negative reports, this restaurant is a force to be reckoned with.

My husband and I hosted one of my top customers -- and her husband who is a "foodie" and extremely vocal about the quality of the food -- and must tell you that everything we experienced this evening was 5-star. From the opening assorted appetizers (lobster shooters, crab cakes, duck potstickers, etc.) to salads (spinach, watercress, etc) to main courses of John Dory, beef filet x 2 , escolar, the food did not miss a beat. Even if Kent Rathburn is not around 24/7 as has been reported, the food was exemplary. This is noteworthy considering the negative press that has been generated on this board recently regarding Abacus.

From service, to environment, to food, to management, this one still deserves Five *****.

(FYI: I also am a Lola supporter, but found the food much more adventurous, abundant, and worthy at Abacus on this visit of 08/08/2003).
