After reading the many posts about A16 here, I was looking forward to last night's visit with a party from work. I was pretty disappointed, as were all my coworkers. I don't get the hype...
OK, the burrata was amazing and delicious. But that was it. The olive oil they gave us for the bread was slightly rancid. The pizza had a six inch circumference circle in the center which was completely soggy, and therefore the pizza lacked structural integrity and was hard to eat. The romaine and chicory salad was boring. The maccaronara with tomato ragu and ricotta salata was ok, but there was nothing interesting or delicious about it. The hazelnut semifreddo was just ok.
My coworkers liked the lamb, weren't crazy about the halibut or chicken...didn't hear any oohing or aahing from the table of 15 in general. Our overall rating was a 1.75 on a scale of 1-5.
Service was attentive and pleasant, but at one point while replacing plates, a server noticed a chunk of food stuck to a "clean" plate he was putting down next to me, and picked at the plate with his fingernail, then wiped at the plate with his palm to try to "clean" it. He finally ended up replacing the un-clean plate with a clean plate. Sorta gross....
The best things about the evening were my coworkers' company, some very good wine, and the sweetheart of a valet parker.
Oh, well....to each his/her own.
