Here's another terrific hound stop for those doing the north/south shuffle on I-95 thru Jacksonville.
Look for the Vietnamese Cafe/Club in the Ramada Inn at the intersection of University Blvd. and I-95 coming into Jacksonville on the south side of town. If you're coming from the south, it's the next exit after J. Turner Butler. Get off on Univ. and head west, knowing you'll have to wade across three lanes of heavy traffic to make a sharp left on Cagle, right past the BP station. You'll probably miss it, but double back and get to the Ramada - it's worth it. Lunch items average $6-7 for a big bowl of pho, or various noodle/rice dishes in viet style. Bahn mi (yummy vietnamese sandwiches) for $2.50 - nice folks running the place, almost entirely asian clientele. Nice room, very clean, good service, busy.
I'm stripping fresh basil and squeezing some lime juice into my bowl of hot pho today - a shot of chili sauce had me breaking into a very satisfying sweat on a chilly day here in Jax and I tell my partner in crime and fellow hound, John - this rates a "hound alert". So here it is. Closed on Wednesday, sorry...
Looking for feedback and news from Jax hounds...
