Better than Cafe Rouge, better than Lukas, better than Eccolo, even better than my beloved Gregoire blue cheese beef patty. Heck, we can even venture into SF because this burger puts Zuni's to shame.
Expertly cooked Creekstone Natural beef. Topped with the usual toppings plus Nueske's triple smoked bacon, house made bbq sauce and fried onions. The flavors come together perfectly. The soft bun absorbs the juices while maintaining its form. I said "wow" so many times while eating this burger that my dining companion started making fun of me. Fries are solid, get the dipping sauce that comes with the fried onions on the side.
At this point, I've tried most of Grayson's menu and I've yet to hit a clunker. The burger, chicken and waffles, corned beef hash and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon are standouts, but the entire menu is solid. Combine that with organic ingredients, reasonable prices, friendly service and good beer on tap and you've got a real winner. This is the best restaurant to open in Berkeley in years. Now I just can't wait until dinner service starts.
