85th Birthday Dinner

Hi Chowhounds,
My husband and I are planning an 85th birthday dinner for his mother, a very lively and contemporary woman, this September. There will be between 16-20 people and we are looking for up-scale, but not break the bank (say $100-$125pp before taxes and tip but including wine). A private room would be nice but is not esential. We were thinking of Il Mulino as a possibility. We're not interested in ByMark, North 44, Scaramouche or Splendido. Centrally located is preferable. Ethnic food not desireable. Good wine list essential.

Any thoughts? All suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.
