I need help. I'm trying to plan a dinner for my parents' 40th anniversary and need some options. There will be 8 in our party.
I've put the private dining room at Gary Danko on hold, but the cost ($1200 minimum for food & bev) is giving my siblings and their spouses heart attacks. For the record, parties larger than 6 people are not seated in the main dining room, but must book the private room.
We want this to be a very special occasion. Does anyone have any suggestions for elegant, tasty alternatives? We would even consider lunch in Napa or Sonoma--(is the Wine Train any good?)--or other restaurants. (Please don't suggest Chez Panisse as I just had a ho-hum experience there recently.)
Please, please come to the rescue. A civil war would be unsuitable for this very special occasion.
