I'm an LA 'hound who'll be spending four nights in Manhattan (midtown) on business. I usually like to go to one of the three-star type places that NYC does so well, but this time, I thought I'd try to go to places less well-known to outsiders. So, what would you recommend? I'm thinking one night can be French bistro/brasserie, another Italian (pizza or otherwise), another middle eastern, and the last some other ethnic food that may be particularly good in Manhattan (preferably not Chinese). I'm willing to pay for quality (I recently went to Degustation and loved it), but if I'm not going to the three-star places I'd prefer not to pay three-star prices. Also, I don't plan on leaving Manhattan, but I'm willing to leave midtown. It makes no difference to me whether it's a hole in the wall or not, I'm just looking for great chow. Please help! Thanks!!
